Little flying bugs.

well what i've done before in the KITCHEN, is dump something sticky and sweet down the drain and they flock to it. like honey, or soap, or something like that. then you just rinse and relax!
Maybe it's the Guy in me, but no link that relates to the statement "I left them floating in the bowls and dying" is ever, ever, clicked on. :)
LMAO --- they were roses. Ha.
Gnats are a nuisance. there's no real treatment for them... working in the pest control industry taught me a bit about bugs (even if I only worked in the office). you can either use sticky boards (fly paper) or try that thing Sara suggest.

or, since they are attracted to your wine, maybe leave a glass purposely out in the open to get them to go in. maybe a bottle so that they can't get back out too easily?
oh, gosh, i HATE HATE HATE gnats.

You could try honey or very sweet sugar water in a bowl, cover with saran wrap and poke holes in the wrap. Honey works best.

It's too bad that your sweet gift from your kids turned into a nuisance!
